My Life is a Mood

I’ve made it this far, now what?

I guess I’m what you would call, a late bloomer. I used to journal every day growing up as a teen through my early thirties and then one day, I stopped.

It was probably due to a lot of reasons; I became a new mom, I had work friends to talk to, I immersed myself in World of Warcraft… all of these things. What I learned throughout this non-journaling time was that I got much better at connecting with people and in turn, connecting with myself.

What was once a handwritten airing of grievances evolved into a daily video “confessional”, for lack of a better term. I post everything from my Dunkin cawfee runs, thoughts on social issues, gaming and literally everything in between. This is my therapy. It is my pleasure to share myself with you.

My hope is that you find something here that makes you feel seen and leaves you filled with endless possibilities.

I love people

You’re probably thinking, “But, Sara, you’re from New Jersey…how is this possible?!” Ha! Cmon, we’re not all bad, okay? No, but really, I’ve been lucky enough in this life to connect with some amazing humans.

I was always very shy growing up and I found my voice very late in life. I would say it probably started in my freshman year at Penn State.

Growing up, both my parents were bartenders, so attending Penn State was a big deal. Not only was I the oldest of three and first to graduate but I was also the oldest of all grandchildren and the first to attend college. As if that pressure wasn’t enough, it was my first time being away from home and living on campus with a bunch of strangers. Since we weren’t made of money, I had to make up a portion of my tuition by joining the “work-study” program.

Enter… Sara Jones, “PSU Hazleton Student Ambassador”, which was really just a fancy title for a campus tour guide. This “job” broke me out of my shell and allowed me to be the person that created a relatable and welcoming experience for potential students who were just like ME! This experience laid the bricks of the foundation for who I am today.

Helping people feel comfortable through their navigation of the unknown brings me unspeakable joy.

Spreading Empowerment like Confetti

The ability to “pluck” people out of the shadows and into the spotlight is my SUPERPOWER.

Seeing someone step into their power and shine brightly after feeling unseen or unheard is my fuel!

As you’re reading this right now, I need to deeply convey to you that YOUR VOICE MATTERS and it has the power to make positive change!

Everybody has a story and a voice that needs to be heard. If you’re sitting there thinking to yourself that you’re not important enough, YOU’RE WRONG!

When you share yourself with the world, you’re unconsciously permitting others to do the same. You are giving someone something to relate to and connect with. Your story is your GIFT.

Sharing leads to healing leads to empathy leads to love.

Your story has the power to change lives.

Fusing Passion with Purpose

I'm passionate about using gaming as a force for good and making a real social impact. Whether it's raising funds for charitable causes or spreading awareness about important issues, I believe in the incredible potential of gaming to bring people together and create meaningful connections.

In 2014, while playing World of Warcraft, I was introduced to Extra Life charity that gathered hundreds of thousands of gamers annually, to raise donations and awareness for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals by playing video games. I was floored that I could actually use my gaming hobby to do good for people! That's when I caught the #PLAYITFORWARD bug and never looked back!

Over time I realized that while gaming as a hobby was fun, showing people how to use their "fun time" to make a difference spoke to my heart. I made it my mission to share the joy of giving back with other gamers and content creators to show them how they can make a huge impact by doing something they love.

In addition to supporting Extra Life, I’ve used gaming to support: The Epilepsy Foundation, The Cleveland Clinic, The Trevor Project, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and more.

To the outside world, gamers are seen as geeks, nerds, and toxic low-lives, that "wasted" time playing games. I felt then, the way I do today, is that gaming has evolved and has become a powerful tool of connection and community and that we can shape that narrative into something POSITIVE.

My mission was further ignited to break the stigma and change the culture of gaming.

Bringing Others Along

When I tell you I fell in love with gaming for charity and the very thought that people could play games and change someone’s REAL LIFE, I fell HARD! I knew I needed to scream it to the mountain tops, SO I DID!

In 2019, I founded the Greater Good Gaming (G3 Force) Community in an effort to field a team of big-hearted humans that share my passion for using gameplay to drive positive impact by raising awareness & driving donations for various non-profits and other good causes.

I truly believe in my heart that by bringing good people together for a common cause, we have the power to turn gaming around.

Each small act of kindness sets off sparks of positivity.

By coming together and spreading positive vibes we will pave the way for future gamers and inspire them to continue to ...

#PLAYITFORWARD !

If there is any imprint I can leave on the gaming community it's to motivate other gamers to use their platforms and gaming hobby for the power of good. Together, we have the power to level up and create a world where everyone feels valued and empowered.

So, if you're ready to join me on this adventure, let's collaborate and redefine what it means to be a gamer.

Let's show the world what we're made of!
